I have a 13" 2010 Macbook Pro I just picked up used, 4GB RAM, 2.4GHZ, 500GB harddrive.. It came with OS X 10.8 freshly installed and seemed to work fine, didn't experience a single issue and didn't install anything on it. The other day I decided to upgrade to 10.9.1.. during install of Mavericks the macbook completely froze up and I had to do a hard reset. When it booted back up it restarted and finished it's install, but now it totally freezes up every few minutes.. sometimes every five minutes, sometimes once an hour, etc.
The trackpad stops working, the keyboard stops working, the screen and all the lights stay on even if I close the macbook, and I'm forced to do a hard reset. Happens at random - sometimes in Finder, sometimes in Safari.. I'm not doing a single hardware-intensive thing to it, just internet and finder, but it still locks up all the time.
Any ideas? Is this a hardware issue?
