itunes settings where stored?

I am new to OSX and was wondering if certain settings are stored in what would be equivalent to the Registry in Wiondows.

Specifically what I want to do is for iTunes to always look in the same place for the iTunes media folder. I have an external drive where I store my music and when iTunes first starts if it can't connect to the external drive then it defaults to loged user\music or some other folder.

I can get iTunes to find the iTunes Media folder provided I first use the finder to find the external drive, itunes media folder and then start iTunes.

CanI hard code somewhere the location of my itunes media folder and force itunes to use that location always?

Thanks!

Jaime

User settings are stored in preference files (plist) which are in XML format. They are in a Preferences folder inside the user/Library folder. They are named in reverse Domain name format, com.apple.iTunes.plist

Try starting up iTunes while holding down the option key. It will ask which library to use. Hopefully that will reset the preference. If it doesn't, try deleting the plist file and repeat to set the default Library.
