Apple TV compatibility issues with Panasonic Viera plasma

We recently purchased an Apple TV to set up with our Panasonic Viera plasma (model# TH-P42V20A) in our home theatre room, and the darn screen is blank. Nothing, nada! We've tried everything, from different cables, different HDMI inputs, turning Veira Link off, running the HDMI through the Blu-Ray player. It works perfectly on our cheap $100 TV downstairs, but nothing on our big tv upstairs. Someone suggested v1.4 HDMI, but I have no idea what the version we have is? Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, how did you fix it? We're not buying a new TV, but are thinking of taking the AppleTV back and getting another media system. I love the functions on the apple tv, I just wish we could get it working on our big screen ;( Any other ideas? Thanks in anticipation.

We have tried all four HDMI ports on the TV and selected them appropriately when we tried them. We have also tried letting the Apple TV run through the different pixel sizes but that didn't work. We also manually set the pixels on the Apple TV. TV is capable of 1080p 50Hz so we set it to that but it didn't work. We also set to other lesser resolutions but we had no luck there either.

I would like to understand the cables more as some people seem to have had success there. We have tried 4 different cables. We have tried them all in both directions. We have taken the cable directly out of the working blue ray player or the hard drive recorder and put them into the Apple TV and they haven't worked. I don't understand the v1.4 and v1.3 or what we have so I need to understand that better.

My concern is that it is the TV. There is a note in the TV manual that says, "Viera Link "HDAVI Control" based on the control functions provided by HDMI which is an industry standard known as HDMI CEC is a unique function that we have developed and added. As such its operation with other manufacturers equipment that supports HDMI CEC cannot be guaranteed." We therefore updated the TV software to make sure there were no updates we had missed but this didn't make any difference either. I would have thought if this was the problem though, that other people would be having similar issues.
