Safari Web Content 100% CPU when using top sites

Whenever I open Top Sites in Safari 7.0.1, I've noticed in Activity Monitor that Safari Web Content immediately goes up to 100% and doesn't come down. It often turns red and is marked as "not responding". Is there a way to fix that (short of disabling top sites)?

Same issue. Problem is Safari.

No problem with Firefox. Same websites Firefox 11%, Safari 118%. Since I have no extentions in Safari according to Safari, the idea that it is due to "extensions" is incorrect. Lots of plug-ins per Safari/Help/Installed Plug ins but no extensions per Safari. Frankly having to trouble shoot Safari is not worth it.

Had to stop using Safari. If they update 6.1.1 and announce that it has fixed the problem. I might try it again.

Just switch to another browser.
