I'm trying to get my MacBook restarted and re-install OS Lion. The hard drive comes up as "Locked". What do I do now?

I'm trying to unlock my daughter's MacBook and reinstall OS X Lion. When I start the re-install process, a message comes up that the hard drive is 'locked'. What do I do next? Please advise. thanks, Jim

try rebooting it and when you hear the chime press the option key into recovery mode and re install the operating system that way or if you have the original disc try pressing the option key at boot and try that... hope it helped !
