Q: After backing up my computer using time machine I want to delete files on my computer to free up space.  However, I want to keep them on the hard drive.  How do I do that?

After backing up my computer for the first time using time machine I want to delete files from my Mac to clear space.  In the future, when I back up my computer I want to be able to keep the files on my hard drive and not have them overridden.  However, I would want to add new pictures, etc.

    Hello,

Time Machine is not a good way to do that, when it eventually needs more room it deletes old Backups to make room.

If you really want to keep Files but remove them from the Internal Drive, then I'd get another external drive to copy or clone them to that is not used for TM.
