I am using Jam Pack 4 and trying to get articulations for pizzicato, etc to play from the string sections. When I use the modulation wheel I get the correct articulation played through the computer both from the keyboard and Matrix editor, but it doesn't save or play back the same. When I play it back, all I get is bland articulation. How do I get the pizzicato to record and 'stick'?
are you changing your articulation part-way through the track? If you start of w/ pizzicato for instance, and then need your strings to go to a legato feel, in my experience the computer remembers everything as legato (or whatever feel you happened to changed it to part of the way through). I've been searching for ways to solve this as well. Hopefully this is some kind of starting point in figuring that out. I"m sure someone on here knows exactly how to fix that.
For what the original poster wants to do, I would suggest selecting one of the "extra" instruments. The "full" instruments (with all the different articulations) have their articulations divided as separate instruments too.
For example: "Extra Violin Pizz" (or close enough to that) will give you ONLY the pizz violin.
you need to record the articulation changes (ie cc1 data) in real time.
i use programme changes that convert into cc1 data in the environment to affect my articulation switches. you can find templates of how i do this including an articualtion change lgoci song at logicprohelp.com
you might find that helpful.
you can also insert the cc1 changes in the event editor by apple-clicking the cc data symbol. you will need to have a look at the manual to work out which of the buttons it is - but rest assured it is really easy.
i don't have it, but if it's same as the others, use hyper draw.
with this, you can draw cc1 in using matrix or score. i generally insert a node at each new phrase point whether the articulation is the same or not. this reminds logic which cc value it's at.
