cd wont import

im trying to import a music cd onto my iphone 4 but whenever i put it into the cd player it makes whirring noises and then doesnt show up on itunes. ive tried using it on windows media player aswell but that doesnt work. its not the cd either because ive tried it with 3 other cds and i have the latest version of itunes installed aswell. please help
