You may need to force close all open apps on your iPhone, then restart the device.

Jan 31, 2014 5:01 PM in response to ijustloverunninby IndigoDolphin,That didn't work. I've had 1312 phantom sent email since the upgrade to iOS7 on my iPad. I've tried everything. Uninstalling and reinstalling the account did get rid of most of the 5 GB that were in this phantom world but didn't reset the counter. Any suggestions.
