Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with connecting to your home network using an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro. I would be concerned about this too. I found a couple of articles I recommend for this issue.
First, I recommend reviewing this article:

This second article has some additional steps specific to troubleshooting Wi-Fi connections. I recommend the full article, but the section titled "Symptom: My Mac does not connect to the Internet" stands out to me for the issue you described:
