My itunes store profile says I have over $30 to spend on credit (from giftcards) but I can't seem to access this amount as everytime I try to buy a song using this money I am asked for billing information.

    Hello GirlMonday,

Thank you for the question.  It sounds like you would only like to use your credit in the iTunes Store.  When purchasing songs from the iTunes Store, your balance will be used before the credit card on file:

When you buy individual songs from the iTunes Store:

    • Free song credits are redeemed first.
    • If you have no free song credits, gift certificate, prepaid card, and allowance credits are used next.
    • If your gift certificate, prepaid card, and/or allowance credit is less than the total cost of the purchase, your credit card is billed for the remaining balance.
    • If you have no free song credits or gift certificates, prepaid cards, or allowance credits, your credit card is billed for the songs you buy.

When you buy an album on the iTunes Store:

    • Gift certificate, prepaid card, and allowance credits are used first.
    • If your gift certificate, prepaid card, or allowance credit is less than the total cost of the purchase, your credit card is billed for the remaining balance. Note: Free song credits cannot be used for album purchases.
    • If you have no gift certificates, prepaid cards, or allowance credits, your credit card is billed for the albums you buy.

If you prefer to not have a credit card on file, I recommend changing your billing information to None in the iTunes Store so that there isn't a credit card on file.  Use the steps in this article to update your billing information:

If you do not see the option to select None, take a look at the following article:

Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?

iTunes simply wants you to verify your account info.

Select Store in iTunes, select View Account and select None under Payment info.
