I've just bought a new iMac and tried to transfer all my old photos across, but I'm left with 400 plus that won't load because they're .pct files. Any ideas how to import them? They're mostly my old scanned pics that I don't want to lose.

Thanks for that, but I can view them on my old MBP, but I'm trying to change the format to somethingg like .jpg so I can get them onto my iMac.
I've tried 'Get Info' and changing the extension, but that clearly didn't work either.
As you can gather, I'm not the world's best computer user!!

Check out Graphic Coverter ($45 approx) but with a generous free trial which will allow you to conver thoise images.

Use Preview to batch convert images:
select all the images you want to convert
right click on one of the files and select open with preview
click within the preview pane
edit > select all
File menu > Export Selected Images
