airport time capsule light is solid amber, tried both soft and hard resets which have not corrected the problem, modem is working, but there is still no internet through the airport

Unfortunately, a solid amber light is almost always a sign that the hard drive has failed inside the Time Capsule.
Take the Time Capsule to an Apple Store.....if you have one in your area....or an Apple Servicer to let them take a look and go over your options with you.
Or, you could contact Apple Support directly.
