how do I back up my pictures and data
I need to takemy Mac in and they will probably tell me I need a new harddrive. How do I back up my data and pictures before I take it in?
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6)
Get an external hard drive at least the size of your existing drive and clone your entire system using
SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
Or Carbon Copy Cloner http://www.bombich.com
When you get your Mac back with a new hard drive just connect your external drive and reverse the process. When you're all done you'll have an external drive to use as a Time Machine backup drive to protect your files.
