Ask NBC, it's their app.
Must be a licensing issue. I came across the same issue last night.😕
The app worked just fine until I tried to use it via Airplay to my big screen via Yamaha AVR or through my Apple TV.
Why? Because the Apple I-Tunes store sells NBC programs.Cha Ching $$$😉$$$
If I use my HDMI converter out of my I-Pad which doesn't use Bluetooth either through my TV or AVR I get the same old "Airplay does not support " message. Oh by the way if you try this a few times you will see the program begin to play and then the message pops up.
Bottom line...you can watch NBC programming on your portable Apple devices but if you want a bigger picture on your big screen TV you can't do it.
I just switched over on my Panasonic Viera and used the on-board browser to navigate to NBC.com and watched it that way.
I suppose you could use Windows browser and play through your Windows Media player.
It really burns my rear end that I have an Apple TV and yet I have to resort to a non-apple option.😠
The new NBC app, released yesterday, supposedly supports AirPlay. I have not tried it yet.
