Jan 19, 2014 9:02 AM in response to elahinsdaleby Allan Sampson,If Find My iPhone is enabled with your iCloud account settings on the iPhone, turn this off first.
After Find My iPhone has been turned off, on the iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset and select Erase All Content & Settings. This is a secure erase of all content and settings - everything but iOS and the included apps.

You're worrying to much. So unless you have something to hide, just follow the steps, wipe it and move on.

Jan 20, 2014 3:48 AM in response to elahinsdaleby AASB1991,You're actually not worrying too much, take a look at the following stories all backed up by evidence
http://www.itpro.co.uk/mobile/19643/importance-wiping-devices-upgrading
http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-1139941.html - Leading Forensics company Cellabrite talk about how they can retrieve data that’s deleted from mobile devices
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2010/oct/12/mobile-phones-personal-data
Factory reset is not enough, data recovery tools appear to work, however there are people now buying phones online just to remove personal data, because enough people don't take it seriously.
I can name a UK company that will do the job properly for you, with an offical document of data destruction (the phone is not actually destroyed lol). If you need the name let me know!
I'm here to help!

If you go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
Once you do that it will put the phone into setup mode with iPhone Data Eraser and everything will be delete from the phone and they won't be able to get your information back.I found the hard way that just because you wiped your iPhone's data doesn't mean that everything linking you to the phone has been removed. There are some apps that may still be linked based on your phone's unique hardware ID. I sold an old iPhone to a friend of mine and completely wiped my data using the method above, however, he informed me that my account was still linked. He said that the same was true for several other apps as well, to permanently delete iPhone data before selling, you have to choose some professional iPhone data eraser software.
