'DOCUMENT' folder has gone missing? How do I restore it?

I have a similar issue except I don't have a Document folder under my HOME. Have I somehow moved them all to iCloud? How do I get Documents on my hd to display? Just seem to have happened yesterday while I was reviewing my iCloud content.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved and is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.

If you are using macOS Sierra and have Documents and Desktop syncing with Optimize selected in System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options, that is normal.

A quick question to Eric Root...

Does it mean that without iCloud drive connectivity (for any reason from lack of Internet connection or not being able to sign in) one can expect that the Documents folder might not be accessible even when shown in the sidebar?

Folder is on the right side of the Dock ONLY.

Go to your Finder>home

drag your Documents folder back down to the Dock

Finder>Preferences>Sidebar>your Home Folder

From this home folder (list view) drag your documents folder from there.

I'm having the same issue....

Based on my quick test, the contents shouldn't be accessible without an Internet connection.

My tests reveal that the documents folder is mirrored (but hidden) on the local hard drive in addition to on iCloud, there is no need for an internet connection when opening/saving files.
