File Permissions all messed up

Last night I was having problems with disk space only to relaized that Mavericks was miss calculating the size used. So I created a new user and moved everything over. I have replaced my superdrive with a HDD and installed an SSD. Now the HDD is giving all sorts of problems.

I use Screenflow on an almost daily basis and after creating the new user that app says that it doesnt have permission to save a project file to the drive.

I immediatley went into Terminal and used the following commands

chown -R myusername /Volumes/Storage

and

chmod -R 777 /Volumes/Storage

but that hasnt changed anything.

So I saved the file to my startup disk the dragged it over to the Storage
