I bought my unlocked iPhone 5 like a year ago from an apple store. I used to live in Mexico, so in order to get my phone going, I went to a prestigious Mexican mobile phone company (Telcel).
Now that I moved back to the US, I would like to have a US carrier.
Can I go to like, say Sprint, Virgin mobile, or other mobile phone company and hook my phone on a mobile plan, or do I need to buy a new phone?(lame)

You should be able to use T-Mobile or AT&T

If your iPhone is unlocked, it can be used with any other GSM carrier that supports the iPhone.
Not with Sprint or with Verizon in the U.S. which are CDMA carriers that also have an LTE network. You can use the iPhone with AT&T or with T-Mobile that are two of the largest GSM carriers in the U.S.
I'm stuck with only those two?
There may be smaller GSM providers that may or may not be authorized carriers for iphone, but AT&T and T-Mobile are the largest and are authorized carriers.
Not sure what you mean by stuck.
AT&T is one of the largest if not the largest in the U.S. in terms of customers and network coverage.
T-Mobile doesn't compare with AT&T's overall network coverage.
The rest are GSM regional carriers.
Depends on where you will be spending much of your time and if you will be doing extensive traveling.
