MacBook Pro Early 2011 idle high temperature

Dear all,

The CPU (i7, 2.2) temp on idle (4/5%) is about 80 C, is this normal? Heatsink shows 55 C. Lately the Cooling Fan is running really fast (and annoying loud) whenever there's activity and temp goes above 80-85 degrees.

I also think performance is not what should be expected from this cpu, but perhaps it's limited because of the temp?

Anyway, I suspect a cooling issue as no process is using much resources (I seldom exceed 15/20%)

i allready did the sms reset (I never now if it is succesfull or not) thing, without success..

Any suggestions or solutions would be much appreciated!

If you did a smc reset, you may want to bring it in, you may have a faulty sensor.

The Mac will shut off it gets to dangerous temps.

The disgnosis is free.
