Renaming "Dropped Pin" in Apple Maps on iMac

I went into Apple Maps. I zoomed into a specific location, and dropped a pin. Apple Maps named the location "Dropped Pin". I would like to rename the location, and have tried all of the obvious methods (double clicking on the phrase "Dropped Pin" in the info dialog box), but cannot figure out whether it is something that cannot be done, or something that I can not find help on.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

It took me eons to figure this out, it's hardly intuitive and it seems a bit 'Glitchy' to me, but here is how you do it:

  • Drop a pin
  • Click on the Pin, then 'i'
  • click on Add Favorite (note the default name)
  • click off the info panel
  • click on the search spyglass in Maps, then Favorites
  • Click edit, then on the name of the favourite you just added
  • Overtype the new name
  • click Done.

Enjoy the new name. I have found that sometimes the newly named pin will not zoom to the location and one time Maps threw a dickie fit and crashed, but sometimes it works! :-D
