I have a mid-2007 iMac and a late 2013 MacBook Pro. I want to use the MacBook Pro as the storage unit and the iMac as the operating unit since the larger screen is easier on the eyes. How can easily connect them to transfer files back and forth easily?

Turn on sharing on both machines and save your files on the MBP, however you will quickly find this to be slow and a bad idea. IMHO if the MBP has files you want to access simply save the files you want on an external HD.
So hard wiring the two machines is not a viable solution? The MBP can't be used as an external hard drive?
I've had problems saving files to the right machine so I email them to both. That's even a slower option.
As I said it's a bad idea. Why are you eamiling files to share, simply create a DropBox accound and you can save files in DropBox and open them on either machine.
Thanks, I"ll explore that. I don't know that much about DropBox but relying on the cloud requres internet hook-up and that's not always available so I like to keep them locally in some form.
