Q: I can't login to my apple id because it claims my email can't be used?

sorry the question sounded dumb but I recently (2 days ago) jailbroke my ipod (if that's how you say jailbroke?) and I hated what it did and it kept making my ipod touch crash so i put my ipod into recovery mode and restored it. Well now i am in the middle of resetting it and everything, it asks for my apple id and I entered it and it said "'e**********@gmail.com' cannot be used to unlock this iPod." which I thought was weird so I entered another apple id i had (because i changed my email and didn't know how to do it within the apple id so i just made a new one) and that obviously said incorrect apple id or password. Anyways so now i'm stuck and ps. I did recently change my apple id email to my new email address, and by recently i mean it's 8pm right now and i changed it at about noon today, so i think that's the problem but i don't know why i put in the old email with the current password but it also says "this ipod is currently linked to an apple id (e**********@gmail.com). Sign in with the id that was used to set up this ipod." and my new email address starts with an e so that makes sense. idk could someone please help me and i'm really annoyed so if i'm unclear be sure to ask and i'll clarify. anyways, thanks if you can help!!

You are running up against the activation lock. You have to enter the Apple ID and password last used to setup the iPod. There is no out

The jailbreaking might have messed that up too. Maybe you found out that jailbreaking has unintended consequences

ok so i turned off my ipod in find my iphone and restarted it and basically pretended like it wasn't mine and i had just bought it from another user. and it's still asking for my apple id and then refusing to take the right one. i've also tried two other apple id accounts that have been linked to my ipod. my mom's that she used when she set mine up when i got it last year, and mine, that has the same password, but different email than my actual current account.

i've now just put my ipod into recovery mode, again, and still same problem. I know that jailbreaking has consequenses and now i feel really stupid.

If you are the original purchaser and have proof of purchase then go to an Apple store.

Otherwise you will have to contact that person whose ID was listed  Settings>iCloud and have them remove it from their account
