just received a mail from iCloud Customer Care (mc10010@aol.com) saying my E-mail account has exceeded its limit.

I have a MacBook Pro and an @mac.com e-mail address. I do not consciously have anything to do with iCloud but just received a mail from iCloud Customer Care (mc10010@aol.com) saying my E-mail account has exceeded its limit.

I was dubious but eventually decided to click on the "update here" link. This demanded my @iCloud.com password. At the foot of the page it says "copyright 2013 iCloud India if that is relevant.

Is it something I should respond to or is it a con?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Mail 5.2

It is a phishing attempt to trick you into disclosing personal or financial information. Delete the email.
