Just bought a new IMAC. Cant get the iPhoto to open even after apparently loading the library upgraded. Ideas?

Did you install and RUN the iPhoto Library Upgrader on your library?

Can only make wild guesses since you have not answered but note that installing the iPhtoo library upgrader is step 1 - step 2 is launching it so it can do the first part of upgrading yoru library )Applications folder ==> utilities -- double click on the library upgrader) - once it has run tthen step 3 is to launch iPhoto and let it finish any necessary upgrades
