Mac Keyboard M7803 USB Upgrade?

I have an old MAC keyboard, the M7803 model and right now I have it totally pulled apart. Great keyboard but old, started sticking a bit and being clear it really showed up the dirt. 😀

Thing is I like the keyboard and plan to use it a while longer... just curious if there was ever a USB2.0 option? Maybe a replacement part from Mitsumi I could replace this with and get USB2.0 out of it since right now it's USB1.2 or lower.

Long shot I know but, hey, might be something they made for warranty repairs or something.

Thanks

The power issue is not completely cured on newer USB2 keyboards. I have one Apple board that will accept USB2 flash drives and my camera transer cable without problems. Another of the same model will not; it gives the low-power message even for a simple flash drive.

If transfers are your primary issue, a compact powered USB 2 hub is a great solution. I have this one:

Naw... I know hubs are an option, that or just a 4' extension cable on my desk, but was hoping to avoid more cables and clutter on an already cluttered desk. The 2 USB ports are super convienient, and easy to get at vs the newer keyboards, figured if a way to update it I'd do it. If I were better with electronics I'm sure there is a way to gut a USB hub and fit it in there and wire the ports to it instead, which I'd try if I had a 2nd keyboard as a guineapig. 😀
