ProTranscoder Tool Not Responding, can't complete share

Activity Monitor shows "ProTranscoderTool (Not Responding)" when I try to share, though 283% + of CPU is being used by it. Percentage of sharing does slowly creep along...though too slowly to believe.

I've tried exporting in different formats, have updated fcpx to 10.1.1, pre-rendered media, background render is turned off, AppNap is turned off.... Sharing is totally dead ever since I upgraded to Mavericks.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I've got to finish this project so I can get rid of the pile up of original media waiting to be trashed after I get these things rendered and exported...

Original media was AVCHD and BMPCC Raw that I converted to ProRes in Resolve before importing. Files are large-ish because project is 65 minutes, but this is the only event of a significant size in the library (I've moved everything else to external drives while I try to get these projects done and off my drive). Library is on a separate internal drive than my boot drive/fcpx drive.

Do you mean a new Fcpx user? I didn't know this was possible -- where do I do so?

Ah, yes, I've been trying this, but inspite of giving read/write permissions to the user everywhere possible, fcpx says that the events/project folder needs read/write permission.

When you say "create an empty library," you mean remove all the other events in the library, correct? I must confess that since upgrading to the new library/events structure I'm a little baffled by how to manage my media, since I can no longer see individual event folders on my drive, just the aggragate thing it made with a new icon....This was going to be the next thing I worked on understanding after I got this thing finished. As it is, I'm maxing out all my drives because I've got too much original media that I can't trash until I get these couple projects rendered.

I also can't get these last few event files off the computer because the format of my only drives with any space left won't allow for me to move larger files. So while I'd love to do some media cleanup, and I will definitely do so when I finish this, I'd like to see if I can get this darn thing shared first because my storage space is running out!

You need to give the new user admin privileges.

Within the app, create a new library. Then select the event in the old library and File>Move Event.

Fixed the 1808p export problem -- fcpx had automatically put my new library on the boot dive (where "movies" folder is located). I moved it to the internal drie where i keep my libraries, and 1080p export didn't immeidately fail. Is currently at 10%, but ProTranscoder Tool has just stopped responding. I am going to leave it to creep along, in the hope that it will eventually finish this share at least...

I had to go out for the afternoon.

Given the numbers your exported on your drives, I don't think that's the problem. Once this is in back of you, you will be in a better position to reorganize files.

And I don't know what is going on with your permissions. Before I suggest you run the app from a new account, I ran a quick test by using my other admin account to open an existing library and move an event from it to a new library. Maybe someone with stronger tech creds than me will chime in.

Sorry but I'm currently stumped.
