I followed the directions above for transferring from an external drive, all my itunes music from a PC to a new Mac. The music and other media is all available in the itunes folder but it does not show in itunes itself.

I can drag all files into itunes from individual folders, but i want to retain meta data /playlists etc, as this method states it does..
Apple support on phone for 2 hours could not solve this..
