Remote connection to time capsule

Hi guys! I have a problem this BTMM. I read about this problem hear https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3699096?start=0&tstart=0 , but could not find an answer.

I have airport extreme this HDD. My internet connection is PPPoE. I do not know if my ISP uses a second nat.

I did everything that is written:

Time Capsule setup:

1. Open Airport Utility

1a. Open Time Capsule Base Station tab

1b. Put iCloud NAME in "Back to My Mac"

1c. Enter Password, then wait for activation (less than 1 minute normally)

1d. Open Time Capsule Disks tab

1e. Check mark "Enable file sharing"

1f. Check mark "Share disk over WAN"

1h. Password self explanitory

Computer (Mac)

1. Open iCloud in System Preferences

2. Put a check mark on "Back to My Mac", wait for actication (less than 1 minute normally)

Connecting to Time Capsule Disk from you HOME network or outside your home network ((INTERNET))

In order to connect to Time Capsule Disk off your local (home) network you must have an internet connection, if you do then do this:

1. Open Finder

2. In Finder open Shared if collapsed and double click on your Time Capsule name.

3. Double click your Time Capsule, enter password (if you required).

4. Once connected to your Time Capsule double click on your Disk to mount it enter password (if your required).

5. Done, remember the connection speed is dependent on your internet quality (broadband vs dial-up).

BUT BTMM dont work. Then I connect to my TC, writes that TC is not responsible. I try to connect using afp:// , it don't work too.

I can ask my ISP to do static ip for my. Do you think it will help for me?

The TC must be in router mode.. and it must have no double NAT..

Easy check.. open a terminal and type

traceroute 8.8.8.8

See if more than one private IP address shows up.

For this to work.. Your TC must have PPPoE activated on the WAN and the modem in bridge. Is it??

Double NAT should cause an error message.

For direct AFP connection to work you must eiither have a static IP or working ddns. As well as that you need to port forward 548 TCP to the TC if it is not the main router.

Did you read Tesserax notes on remote access??

Your ISP is providing internet via private IP addresses.. that means they are not routable on the internet.

Therefore you can never access your TC or anything else in your house from remote.

Talk to your ISP if you can be transferred to a public IP so you can get remote access.

Look at this info on private IP.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network

If you do not have a choice of ISP in your area, some 3G/4G services will offer public IP and you can get remote access.. but be warned these services are often cheapskates as well and also use private IP address scheme.
