Wireless Internet Cafe

Hi:

Someone gave me an ipad mini. I do not have my own ISP so am using the internet cafe. What is the best security set up for my ipad. Is there any way I can be sure that I'm not being displayed on any other computer device without losing the internet connection? I was already warned not to do any monetary stuff there but can I be hijacked when I'm using itunes, etc in the coffeeshop?

I know I'm a newby. Thanks for any suggestions.
