Q: Proxy authentication in a large organisation

Hello Everyone,

We're having a serious issue within our organisation revolving around persistant proxy messages popping up during use. The actual PC's we have do still ask for this request, but are nowhere near as irritating for our users.

We use a PC based network service and prior to the realease of Lion, had no problems with the computers.

It's specified that we leave the "Auto-detect proxy" setting checked (under network settings), otherwise we are in breach of our agreement with our internet service provide.

I have been sifting through cummunity posts checking out various solutions other people have found but they don't work on our systems. Essentially this is due to us having so many different users within the company.

I have tried adding various logs to the system keychain, using the administrator profile however, upon logging in on a user account, the proxy message still pops up requiring the present user accounts details.

We think a potential solution to the problem would be to use some sort of script that runs from the point a user logs into the computer, that uses the accounts User and Password for proxy authentication... a launchagent or deamon.

I understand there are ways to assign a singular userpass to the system to remove the messages but this would mean the user's movements on the system aren't being tracked, once again breaching our terms and conditions.

I saw a post about using a program called squidman, that seemed like a potential fix but as far as I'm aware, this too would not work with a network of our magnitude.

Unfortunatly we haven't enough mac technicians over here.

We need outside help me thinks!
