My iphone 4s front camera is not working properly

My iphone 4s front camera is not working properly. The rear camera works fine but when i try to switch it to the front camera the camera flips then freezes and the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. i have to press the home button and then force close the camera app and then when i load it up again the camera screen is black when touch the icon to make it go back to the rear camera it doesnt work and i have to force close it again. after force closing it an opening the camera again the rear camera turns on fine. it seems like the front camera is broken or something
