Q: Spanish Keyboard Shortcut

I would like to ask if someone knows what is the keyboard shortcut to switch between several open documents in Pages 5 on a (Western or International) SPANISH KEYBOARD, please.

By the way, the ~ key doesn't exist in the Spanish keyboard.

I would really appreciate it for the kind of work I'm doing.

Thanks in advance.

Actually, on a US keyboard, the shortcut is Command Accent (⌘`) which uses the same key as the tilde, but without the shift that is needed to get a tilde.

I believe it is the same shortcut on a Spanish system, but the accent grave is in a different location.

Try changing the shortcut to something which does not involve a dead key in system preferences/keyboard/shortcuts

The problem of alternate shortcuts on different langauge keyboards has plagued us for a while.

Since we don't have what you have ie combination of a different keyboard as well as the System keyboad setting.

Can you contact Spanish Apple Support and ask them, then pass the information back to us?

    Peter

btw Ask your PC friends what they use, it is likely the same wiith maybe the command key substituted for the control key.

The hardware doesn't matter, keyboards are all the same except for the printing on the keys.  It's not very hard to put your OS into Spanish and keyboard into Spanish ISO and see this shortcut doesn't work.

It does seem to work on my 10.7.5 and Pages 4.

PS I just discovered that Command + ` does work for me in Mavericks/Pages 5/Spanish ISO after all.  It was just turned off by default in system prefs/keyboard/shortcuts and I had not actually checked that.

Tom that is not correct to my knowledge.

On certain foreign keyboards the keys are rearranged differently, some have more some have less.

Fruhulda acn probably tell what is different on her scadinavian keyboard. Mostly it is the keys near the caps lock.

In this case you still need to point out what 'labeled' keys to hit.

ISO keyboards used in Europe have an extra key between z and shift, and there are some minor shape and location differences at the right edge, but the functional differences are determined by the .keylayout files.

"Cycle through windows" is supposed to be Command + `  for both US and Spanish systems and keyboards.  You should be able to just hit the keys on which those things are printed for either one.   On the spanish ISO layout it's a dead key, so that might mess up some apps, but it works ok for me with Pages.  At least after I turned in on in system preferences -- seems a bit crazy to have it off by default, if that is the case (it was off for me and I had never changed anything there).

As you said, I created the shortcut "Cycle through windows" (Cmd+`) and still doesn't work. I have the Spanish Keyboard and layout.

So your preferences look like mine below except that ⌘` is replaced by ⌘+ ?   Weird if that does not work...

I had a similar problem. Using my US keyboard in Safari I could type option-` then e to get the character è. No problem.

This would not work in Pages 5.1 at first. Drove me crazy. I would type option-` then e. Briefly the è character would appear then instantly a regular "e" would replace it.

I discovered that in Pages I was using Helvetica font. I switched to Helvetica Neue and voilá—the è magically appeared. Certain fonts don't have some characters that others do. Makes sense.

So if you are having this problem try changing fonts.

    Don

Actually that does not make sense.

The accented characters have been part of all Mac fonts for as far back as I can remember on the Mac (30 years), well before we went Unicode.

Besides which that is not true. I have tested the accents with Helvetica in Pages '09 and Pages 5 in Mavericks and they work.
