Q: connecting iphone 5s to computer via bluetooth

I am trying to connect my Iphone 5s to my PC laptop via bluetooth so that i can trasfer some photos and videos that are too large to send via email.  When I select to pair I get a notification that the bluetooth peripheral device driver is not installed and when I attempt to update the driver it says that it was unable to update the driver.  Any help on this subject would be great. Thanks

    Hi

Bluetooth transfer from iPhone to PC or iPhone to iPhone is not a feature of iOS and therefore not supported. You may be able to use 3rd-Party Apps from the App Store that may offer this functionality for you.

However what I don't understand is why you're not using the supplied cable to do exactly what you're trying to do?

    HTH?

I do not have my cable with me at the moment.  It seemed like a simple solution: just send the file via bluetooth.  Besided I am trying to send photos and videos from my PC to my iPhone not from the phone to the PC.  I know how to send my photos from my iPhone to my laptop but, I am not familiar with how to send data the other way.

In either case, it seems like a major oversight for iOS not to support bluetooth trasfers from PC to iPhone and visaversa.

Bluetooth transfer of files has never been supported on the iPhone. Besides, Bluetooth is a slow process. Sending photos and video from the PC to the iPhone is accomplished via iTunes. That is the only method to do that, a sync.

I understand that on a sync I can send photos from my phone to my laptop but, I am not certain how I can use a sync to send data from my laptop to my phone.  I have not messed around with this many times in the past.

Not an oversight. It's just the way it is. Use the lightning to USB connector that came with your phone. When connected to your PC the phone will be recognized as a camera and you can use whatever image capture application you have on your PC to transfer photos.

    Hi

Personally I don't think it is but I respect your opinion just as you respect mine. You could leave feedback on Apple's website and tell them what a blunder they've made here:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

". . . I am not familiar with how to send data the other way"

Download iTunes for your version of Windows OS here:

    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Install it. Launch it. Connect the iPhone to your PC using the supplied cable. Explore the iTunes interface and it's simple to figure it out from there?

    HTH?

Photos from the computer to the phone are handled with a sync. They are not saved in the camera roll, they are saved in folders based on the names on the comptuer. The sync is also the only way to remove those pictures synced from the PC to the iPhone. See the User Guide here for help with the sync process. http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

If you have iCloud setup you can copy photos & videos to the "Upload" folder on your PC and then they will appear on your phone, My Photo Stream.  Then you can select the photo and add to camera roll.

    Hope this helps

I personally use PC for most things.

My Ipad and iphone are a liability for when it comes to anything important.

The blue tooth connection to a PC is such a basic and fundamental requirement. For me I won't even bother to ask Apple to support iPhone to PC with blue tooth . It would be a waste of my time.

Apple could be such a good product if they opened up a bit and improved the product.

This itunes thing ( software for my PC) - what a strange bit of software. I don't even have any music and yet  it's all about music.

What happens if it's an emergency and I don't have my cable with me. I would like to use Bluetooth.

Please Apple - you need to look into Blue tooth technology. Its been around for a long time now and by now you should be using it.

I know . I don't think its possible to address anything to Apple - nobody is listening.

There are so many things that are so fundamentally wrong .If you address these issues directly with the manufactured - they don't listen.

I would never waste my time like that.

I once considered writing a hand written letter to them. The one that would be written on paper with a pen. I would then post it to them.

At least that way somebody might read and act on it.

These Apple products limit my freedom. That is why I could never use them for anything that is important.

Apple reads feedback that is submitted to the Feedback link. However, just because they read it doesn't mean they will chose to act on it.

Really, that's just a bit melodramatic.

Many of the problems with the Apple products are worldwide with many thousands of people are taking the time to report them to Apple - but Apple has its own ideas on what we should be liking or disliking.

The freedom thing is how it is.I am not free to do many things with the Apple products. For that reason the Apple products cant be used for all the things that really count. Why would Apple not want us to use blue tooth to connect to a PC. I do this all the time with many different devices. Its mind boggling.
