connecting iphone 5s to computer via bluetooth

I am trying to connect my Iphone 5s to my PC laptop via bluetooth so that i can trasfer some photos and videos that are too large to send via email. When I select to pair I get a notification that the bluetooth peripheral device driver is not installed and when I attempt to update the driver it says that it was unable to update the driver. Any help on this subject would be great. Thanks

There are ways to transfer data to and from iOS devices without a charging cable. Bluetooth is not one of them. But there are many others:

  • WiFi
  • Airdrop
  • iCloud
  • Dropbox
  • box.com
  • For photos
    • iCloud photos
    • Photostream
    • Google Photos
    • upthere.com
    • Shutterfly and similar services
  • For MS Office documents, Office for iOS
  • Also for MS Office documents, Documents to Go
  • 3rd party apps
    • Phoneview
    • Touchcopy
    • etc.

Oh, yes, and all of them are orders of magnitude faster than Bluetooth.

In case you couldn't figure it out by his avatar, wegras is from England. You may have heard of it. It's the country where English originated. And, in English (U.K.), favour is the preferred spelling. In American English, it is still considered correct though not preferred.

Using Blutooth isn't any slower than not being able to transfer files because you don't have your charging cable. I'm dumbfounded at their choice to not simply allow this feature.

It's important to do research before making an expensive purchase. iPhones have never had this feature. They probably never will. If that feature is a deal breaker, you might be better off with a different device.

Best of luck.

I do not have my cable with me at the moment. It seemed like a simple solution: just send the file via bluetooth. Besided I am trying to send photos and videos from my PC to my iPhone not from the phone to the PC. I know how to send my photos from my iPhone to my laptop but, I am not familiar with how to send data the other way.

In either case, it seems like a major oversight for iOS not to support bluetooth trasfers from PC to iPhone and visaversa.

Hi

Personally I don't think it is but I respect your opinion just as you respect mine. You could leave feedback on Apple's website and tell them what a blunder they've made here:

Download iTunes for your version of Windows OS here:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Install it. Launch it. Connect the iPhone to your PC using the supplied cable. Explore the iTunes interface and it's simple to figure it out from there?

HTH?

Photos from the computer to the phone are handled with a sync. They are not saved in the camera roll, they are saved in folders based on the names on the comptuer. The sync is also the only way to remove those pictures synced from the PC to the iPhone. See the User Guide here for help with the sync process. http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

I personally use PC for most things.

My Ipad and iphone are a liability for when it comes to anything important.

The blue tooth connection to a PC is such a basic and fundamental requirement. For me I won't even bother to ask Apple to support iPhone to PC with blue tooth . It would be a waste of my time.

Apple could be such a good product if they opened up a bit and improved the product.

This itunes thing ( software for my PC) - what a strange bit of software. I don't even have any music and yet it's all about music.
