Thunderbolt Display Isn't Bright?

So I recently purchased a Thunderbolt Display.
I'm a photography student so I use one everyday (editing and printing).
I finally thought it was time that I would splurge and buy one of my own.

Anyways, as suggested in the tittle above, It doesn't seem to be that bright. On full brightness it does seem pretty adequate, however; if I were in a brighter room, I don't think it would suffice. Does anyone else notice this?

Im sure Apple is coming out with a new display soon. so Im wondering if I should just bring it back and wait for the newer model.. I know that they aren't super bright displays. I just dont think it should have to be on full power all the time.
