I have a new Brother printer MFC-J870DW and my Macbook pro will not recognise it. My IPadAir says "No Air Printers Found"

I have a new printer Brother MFC-J870DW ; my MacBook pro is connected to the internet and mail but it will not send wireless instructions to the printer. When attempting to do an Airprint with my new IPadAir it says no Air Printers found.

MacBook Pro, OSX Mavericks

Are both , the printer and the mac in the same network?
