What is File Cache RAM?

Hello,

Can anyone explain me what is "File Cache" RAM on Mavericks? Is it the usual Cache Memory Ram used by Unix based systems?

Cheers.

Why do you ask and it what context? Memory used?

If so, yes, it's standard UNIX file cache usage and as such the less memory that is "free" on your system, the better and faster things run.

Really, modern operating systems should run with most memory used and should reclaim memory from cache usage as needed.
