I'll post here once I check the image from the office.
I'll post here once I check the image from the office.
That's identical to the freshly installed copy on the iMac, but not the copy on my MBP?
The MBP being the one you have at home but did/didn't have the Office Installer version on it?
Was it the one that was upgraded from Snow Leopard, with fresh installs of the Apps?
Or were the Apps migrated by a different path than the Office Installer?
Peter
The one that was upgraded from SL, and all points in between. Fresh app installs. Not using the Office installer (downloads from App Store)
So we have isolated the Save As… in the file Menu to a change that was made in the Master Copy of the Office Installer.
That may be hard to track down.
Have you checked the Keyboard Shortcuts in the Office Macs? (I can't remember anymore.)
It is the only reported change that seems to reinstate the menu permanently in Mountain Lion and may have carried over in the upgrade to Mavericks, despite that other poster saying it wouldn't work for them actually in Mavericks.
Peter
No, that's on my list now, and a chat with the IT guy.
OK I have tracked it down.
If you change the Keyboard shortcut in Mavericks it does permanently show the Save As… option in Pages 5.
I suspect the other poster did one of 2 things:
They mistyped Save As… without the ellipsis or typed it as 3 periods
and/or
Didn't restart Pages 5.
I will write this up as a tip in the iWorkTipsnTricks forum for other users if they want it.
Peter
I should try that on my iMac, but later, I am out carousing now, beer and an iPad is all I have for a little while.
I will further recomend that Users switch the awkward keyboard shortcut command option shift s for the standard command shift s Apple switched to Duplicate.
That is more in line with Users expectations and practice.
Even if it is "non-standard" in Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
Peter
Lucky you!
The 40+ heatwave here has wiped out my stock of beer.
I'm off to get as many slabs as the old Audi will take.
Peter
It's -18C here, I will trade if you want.
The beer or the weather? 🙂
Any snow?
Peter
British? …warm beer… just a guess.
…or Illinois?
Peter
Illinois, and the beer is warmer than the air temp, but it's not warm in the sense you mean. Close to freezing.
But the UK is where I will be in a few weeks, so I'll try some of that too.
