I checked my disk space using the "disk utility" on my MacBook Pro before and after relocating all original files in Aperture photo library from hard disk to an external drive. Why, after moving all the original files, have I LOST storage??? I thought the point was to move the originals in order to free up space on the hard disk.

No, i'm using an external hard drive formatted for Mac. To move files over I am selecting items from the Aperture Library, "file, relocate original" then creating a new folder on my external HD for the files.
And after you relocated the files, did you trash the 'originals' on your internal drive?
(dumb question, I know, but I gotta ask...)

No. I thought that relocating the originals relocated the original files rather than copying them... So do I need to hunt down the originals on my internal drive and delete them?
Yep - that will fix the problem.

Dumb question: how do I do that? I don't know where they are located.
I guess that you'll have to search for some filename, etc. I don't use Aperture - I use Lightroom and have my libraries on a seperate hard drive, too - never had them on my internal.
