How to set up apple tv using satellite connection and hdmi switch box

I have an older 1 hdmi port Sony Bravia tv model kdl40 s2010 that's connected to dish satellite receiver. I bought an Auvio 4-in/1-out hdmi selector switch to use with apple tv. Having trouble getting connected correctly. Tv screen is black/blank no matter what input chosen. Will atv work correctly with this set up? Is there a diagram of set up for this scenario?
