Q: SSD IDE disk in a 2004 PowerBook

I purchased an SSD for my up-and-running 2004 PB, precisely this model

and it is not detected by the system. It seems I have to revert to my old HDD, which should be replaced anyway, seems to get old. Any idea if there is a trick here? how can I make the old PB detect the SDD?

MacBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9), MB alu late 2008; 12 in PB at 1.33;

No, the problem was not formatting, a non-APM or a non-GUID disk is detected, system cannot be installed, though. The problem was connected to the jumper, it must be there, just that the Apple ribbon is large enough to not enable that jumper. The workaround was to improvize a jumper-like wired connection, and it works now.
I am now installing additional apps.
