Importing photos from my computer, running windows, to iPad Air is extremely slow!

Hey guys,

I am syncing about 30 GB of photos and videos from my computer to my iPad using the latest version of iTunes (just updated today).

It's not my first time syncing my photo library. I've done it on my iPad 2, iPad 3 and even the iPhone 4S and this has been by far the slowest: almost two hours and I am not even half-way through.

Has anyone else had this problem? Sure, I mean recently... I have seen many other discussions on the issue.

How are the pictures being synced to the iPad, using the sync cable or via Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi will always be slower.

30GB of photos and videos is a lot of content to be syncing to the device.

I was syncing over WiFi first but I switched to cable when I saw it was very slow. Not much difference.

I am not sure whether I can say I fixed the problem, but not including the videos made the syncing speed normal again. It is not even that much (a couple of gigs compared to 25 GB of HD photos) but apparently it has a massive effect.

So next time, just uncheck "include videos" and you should be good to go. Who knows? Maybe Apple introduced that option in the recent iTunes versions untill they fix the bug or whatever it is.

That option has been there since atleast iTunes 10.x.

Syncing videos or any content for that matter shouldn't be too much of an issue once the content is on the device. The slowest part is the initial sync when loading all content on the device.

I'm not sure why it took me that long when I included the videos in the sync. I checked upon some other discussions and almost all of them have the same problem.

You're right though. Once the photos/videos are on the device, the following syncs take much less time. Thank you diesel vdub.
