Aperture. My latest version on my computer is 3.4.5. Some libraries on my external hard drive are 3.0.3. I can't import them into my computer until I've upgraded them - how do I do that?! Please help.

Just navigate to them in finder, make sure Aperture is closed, then double click the library to be upgraded. Aperture will try to open the library, recognise the old format and offer to upgrade it.

Take note of the warning that these upgraded libraries will no longer be useable in older versions of Aperture (for example if you als have an older Mac runing and older version of Aperture).

Tricia,

check the formatting of the external drives you are using - you should not have had to move the library to the Desktop, there is still something wrong:

Hi Andy - Many thanks for the info. As the library was on an external hard drive I had to drag it on to the desktop before the finder located it.

Aperture should be able to open libraries directly on an external drive. But Aperture 3.4.5 cannot open or use libraries on drives that are not formatted for Mac, MacOS X Extended (Journaled). Storing libraries on drives with the wrong formatting can corrupt your Aperture library. (Seee: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library)

See the link to this document, on how to reformat your drive, if the file system is wrong:

Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture
