Technical Issues Message When Trying To Submit My Podcast Feed

I have been trying to submit my podcast feed to the itunes store since monday and every time I get a message saying there is a technical issue and please try again later.

I sent an email off to apple to find out about this and options offered in the reply haven't worked either! I have had the podcast on itunes before but the site I was hosting it at back in the day (Mevio) decided to remove everything on its site, hence my original feed sat doing nothing and was then removed from the iTunes store, I have recently found a site that offered everything I was looking for (Podcasts.com) and signed up.

I posted my first show on Monday but now I have the issue of iTunes constantly telling me there is a Technical Issue and to try again later which I have repeatedly.

I even tried running my feed through feedburner and still nothing, I have changed the title of both the podcast and the show name like was suggested in the email from apple and still it wouldn't take. Its starting to get on my nerves now since I want to get my podcast back on iTunes.

Can anyone offer up any advice or suggestions on how I can sort this out!?

Nope,

Emailed apple support and got a generic non-response.

I'm now getting the following message when trying to submit my feed

Podcast cover art must be at least 600x600 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB colour space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.

I know the image size is correct and that its in the RGB colour space, so I'm guessing theres a problem with the head request part.

<itunes:image href="http://www.podcasts.com/uploads/PodArt2.png"/>

This image is 315 x 315 - it should be 1400 x 1400 - it's RGB+Alpha and I don't know whether the presence of the aplpha channel is an issue: I should make it JPG and get it at least to 600 x 600 though they may be demanding 1400 x 1400 these days.

I don't know what is meant by HTTP head requests; however you still don't have the top line as I mentioned in my earlier post. I don't know whether that may be an issue.

You still have too many keywords and an incorrect 'itunes:duration' tag though these shouldn't be fatal.

The feed can be subscribed to successfully in iTunes. It has some minor errors but nothing to cause a problem with the submission: your pubDate and lastBuild Date tags should say Jan rather than January and Feb rather than February.

What is likely to be an issue is that your server appears not to handle 'byte range requests' - this is the method used by iPhones (requesting part of the file at a time rather than the whole thing) and is mandatory for podcast in the Store. The only way round that is to find a server which does handle this for the media files (it doesn't matter for the feed).

I'm using the same hosting for my other podcast previously. In fact, they are under the same account on ShoutEngine. Could it really be an error from iTunes' end?

This was the feed that was submitted "http://shoutengine.com/TheNEWGerbearRadioPodcast.xml" and it was approve a day later. It was about a week later when I created the one that won't go through.

The media file in your feed linked to above tests the same, apparently not supporting byte range requests (I'm not sure the test is all that definitive) - normally the store won't accept submissions where this is not supported, so I can't say what's going on.

There have been instances of the Store rejecting a submission in error (there seem to be more problems at weekends) - I can only suggest waiting until Monday and trying again.

I have been having the same issue as the original poster for a little over a week. I successfully submited my podcast but I had so many things that were not displaying correctly that I decided to have it removed. I probably did that a little too soon since I figured out what was wrong and fixed it. Now, I am trying to resubmit, but the submission form continues to say "We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later."

I guess what I need to know is, is it me or is it them? I can manually subscribe and everything looks fine. I even tried a completely new feed and different iTunes account all to the same outcome. This is getting a little rediculous.

You're the second person in the last hour to complain of exaclty this, so it does look as if there is a glitch at the Store end. You could try the alternative URL:

https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/publishPodcast

Your feed can be subscribed to in iTunes but note that your itunes:image URL begins with https (encrypted connection) and the Store cannot handle these - you should change it to http.

It's a pity you had the podcast removed. When you do manage to submit it you will probably be told it's already been submitted - this is a bug in the process - and you would have to change the title slightly to get round this.

Your feed appears to be OK except that your 'itunes:duration' tag is empty, which should be corrected but shouldn't cause a submissions error, and - more seriously - the 'itunes:image' image is a 200 x 103 GIF: the image must be a JPG or PNG, and must be 1400 x 1400 px, RGB, and less than 500GB. The image problem may be causing the error message.

It would be better when you have a query to start your own thread rather than tack onto an existing one, which can cause confusion; you stand a better chance of an answer in your own thread.

You are on to something here Roger. I redid my xml file in a new format, I'm using Reinvented softwares Feeder app, and it changed the error to telling me my image needs to be at least 600x600 and my server needs to have HTTP head requests enabled. Once I changed my image to one that is 1024x1024 it changed back to the technical issues error. I know my server isnt allowing HTTP head requests and I'm working on trying to get the admin to enable that. Just some info to help solve the riddle, nothing has worked for me quite yet.
