My iphone is not recording voicemail messages that callers said they left for me. The calls are showing up in voicemail list (no notification sound, but the discussion length is zero seconds. How do I fix this?

The phone doesn't record voice mail messages at all. That's done by your carrier. Voicemail is a carrier feature. Contact your carrier.

Thanks for the replies. I did check out the carrier and read a FAQ about "soft booting" -turning the phone off and then on again. Previously that didn't do anything. This time I turned the phone completely off for 5 minutes. When I turned it on again, everything was restored. The length of time being turned off made all the difference.
