Is there a setting to send files via airdrop without having to hit "send" then on the other machine hit "accept & save?" I know a few people of mentioned dropcopy, but I'm looking for something native to airdrop.

You're missing the obvious...
There should be a list of trusted machines, that you will always say "Accept" a file from.
Current implementation makes it hard to drop a file from my Bedroom Machine to my Basement Machine.
Even harder for my Dad, who is in a wheelchair, often alone at home.
Actually, for the longest time my Macbook would automatically accept air drops from my phone and vice-versa. But ever since the Apple store gave me a new iPhone (replaced due to damage), I have to accept each one. What changed, and how do I get it back to the way it was?
AFAIK ... no 😠... and it's rather silly. At least it's silly have not an option for this.
So I hope next OS will change the scenario.
This creates a security hole of stealing files via wifi. Is there a specific problem which is not being addressed by the current mutual consent model.
AirDrop would need to be enhanced to accept a mutual trust up front, before the actual transfer, for this to be even considered.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Preventing senders
You can prevent people you don't know from sending you files, or you can allow everyone. If you don't see recipients in the AirDrop window, they might only accept files from people who are in their Contacts list. Ask them to add you in their Contacts app, or have them select the option "Allow me to be discovered by: Everyone" in the AirDrop window.
