I boot my imac holding down the option D key.... Run hardware test... test freezes at 36 seconds... computer beeps, series of 4 beeps... frozen.
have to shut down by holding power key.Running Mavericks 10.9.1 3.1 Ghz Intel Core i5 with 32 Gb Ram.
Could be a failing hard drive.
Beeps on startup:
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images.
5 beeps = processor is not usable
Thanks for your reply, I was mistaken... its 3 Beeps, 5 second pause then 3 Beeps again... over and over...
But I do believe its a memory problem as the link you provided says the memory is failing an integrity check. This would probably cause the freeze up issue.
