Some files grouped as "no data"

I am working on a project consisting of hundreds of jpeg images and audio files. If I group by file type, I get most of them grouped correctly as jpegs and wav files, but a bunch are grouped in a category called "no data". These jpeg and wav files are not particularly different than the ones which are correctly grouped as jpegs and wavs, so what's going on and how can I fix it?
