Awesome! Worked for me too. And all my music still there. I am not tech-friendly, but I can follow step-by-step directions. Thanks!

Interesting that the first post was on 1/22 and here it is a week later with no mention to my knowledge from Apple?  Like many others I have multiple PC's running iTunes.  Have stopped updates by third party utilities and automatic updates through iTunes until they (Apple) gives the all clear.  Software problems are nothing new but to keep on like nothing has happened is a bit unsettling.

Apple, are you hearing this?  Many of us may not have Mac computers but there's plenty of us who also have iPads, iPhones and the like.

    Get with the program Apple!

Worked perfectly.  I uninstalled in the order that otacon72 prescribed (don't know if that matters) and then installed a new downloaded itunes.

Not surprising to me Apple is silent. Sometimes I think they actually believe all their hype and hope in this case people will blame this on Windows

Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7  x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even  quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program  files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted  other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start  when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my  PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools  registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my  PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version  anyways.
Easier to download and transfer  music!!!!!

A week later and Apple updater is trying to get me to install 11.1.4. on my 64 bit Windows 8 OS.

I repeated all the excellent suggestions many times and had no luck (as seems to have happen to you).

    I finally did the following:

    (1) The Apple Program deletes in the defined order.

    (2) Manually cleaning out the Program folder and the Applications/Local/Temp folder (Apple suggestions)

    (3) Using Regedit to manually clean out all keys with APSDaemon.exe

    (4) Rebooting

    (5) Turning off my virus program (Windows Security Essentials)

    (6) Then installing Itunes

This worked. I actually think the key was turning off the anti-virus program, but now I can never be sure.

Those still having trouble should now refer to:

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

On the "Troubleshooting issues..." page it says to look for the file QTMovieWin.dll in Program Files/iTunes and delete it (I am on Windows XP).

I found that file, but I found it under Program Files/Common Files/ Apple/ Apple Application Support.

Should I still delete it, from there? Or will that do even more damage than Apple's sending out this horrid update has already done?

  • turingtest2 Level 9 Level 9 (54,600 points)

For that step delete it only if found in the iTunes folder. Depending on which of the problems you have with this build of iTunes that might have allowed it to work. If the file isn't there move on to the next box.

    You're welcome.

I've edited the text to make it clearer, so thank you too.

tt2, you seen to be the person Apple has in charge here and you have done a great job. But tell me, even after all the mess Apple is still pushing update 11.1.4.

Has this update been FIXED? Is it SAFE to do a NORMAL install on all Windows systems?

    Thanks
